The Patriarchate of Constantinople represented the entire Ottoman Armenian millet. Its archives contain numerous correspondence with the representatives of the European Powers and numerous internal reports on the large-scale massacres committed against the Armenians during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II between 1894 and 1896.
